Part of #16

Fills the small enclosed holes (unpainted dots) in the sub-national choropleth.

  • scripts/cleanup-regions.mjs (npm cleanup:regions): fills 2,245 tiny enclosed holes (< 500 km², across 498 features — dissolve/Natural-Earth artifacts) and keeps 1 genuine water body (KZ-KZY Kyzylorda/Aral basin, 5,858 km²). Gap-bridging is intentionally left off (it minted new medium holes, so net-negative).
  • Result: public/regions.geo.json 2.49 MB → 2.20 MB; 1,796 regions / all 177 countries unchanged (0 id/name/parent mismatches); islands kept; ~100 km floor holds; idempotent.
  • Map/LLM contract untouched (WorldMap.tsx resolves owner via properties.parent).
